Terms of Service
Version 2026-07-18 · effective July 18, 2026
These Terms include our Marketplace Rules (conduct expected on the platform) and our Privacy Policy. When you publish a project or submit a quote, we ask you to accept the current version of these documents; we keep a record of that acceptance.
1. Who we are and what Renovilo is
Renovilo (“Renovilo”, “we”, “us”) operates an online marketplace that connects homeowners, contractors, and workers. Homeowners post renovation projects; contractors post job listings and submit quotes; workers apply to job listings. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Renovilo website and services (the “Service”).
By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. We are an introductions platform only
Renovilo is a neutral venue. We are not a party to any agreement, transaction, contract, or communication between users. We do not employ, engage, supervise, direct, or control any user, and we do not perform, manage, inspect, or deliver any construction, renovation, repair, labour, or related work.
Any arrangement you enter into with another user — including scope of work, price, payment terms, timelines, materials, permits, warranties, and insurance — is solely between you and that user. Renovilo is not responsible for, and disclaims all liability arising from, those arrangements and any acts or omissions of users.
3. No commission, no payment handling for jobs
Renovilo does not take a commission, finder’s fee, or any cut of the work users arrange. The only payments we process are subscription fees (see Section 8), handled by our payment processor, Stripe.
We are not an escrow service, payment processor, or guarantor for the work itself. All payments for jobs, hires, and renovations are made directly between users, off-platform. We have no responsibility for invoicing, collection, non-payment, chargebacks, or payment disputes between users.
4. No vetting, screening, or guarantees
We do not verify the identity, qualifications, licences, certifications, insurance, background, references, or work quality of any user. Profiles, portfolios, quotes, and listings are created by users and are not verified by us.
You are solely responsible for performing your own due diligence before engaging anyone, including confirming licences and insurance, checking references, agreeing on a written contract, and complying with all permits and laws. You assume all risk arising from your dealings with other users.
5. No employment or agency relationship
Renovilo is not an employer, staffing agency, contractor, or subcontractor. Nothing on the Service creates an employment, agency, partnership, or joint-venture relationship between Renovilo and any user, or between users.
Users are responsible for their own legal obligations, including taxes, workers’ compensation (e.g. WSIB), occupational health and safety, employment standards, and proper worker classification.
6. Eligibility and your account
You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use the Service. You agree to provide accurate information, keep your password secure, and are responsible for all activity under your account.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- post false, misleading, fraudulent, illegal, or infringing content;
- harass, threaten, defame, or discriminate against anyone;
- spam, scrape, or send unsolicited bulk messages;
- impersonate others or misrepresent your affiliation;
- attempt to circumvent subscription gates, security, or rate limits;
- use the Service for anything unlawful or against these Terms.
We may remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, at our discretion.
8. Subscriptions and billing
Posting on Renovilo is free. Certain features (applying to job listings, quoting on projects, and messaging) require a paid monthly subscription. Subscriptions are billed in advance through Stripe and renew automatically each month until cancelled.
You can cancel anytime from your billing portal; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Except where required by law, fees are non-refundable and we do not provide prorated refunds for partial periods. We may change plan prices on notice; changes apply to subsequent billing periods.
9. Your content
You retain ownership of the content you post (text, photos, etc.). You grant Renovilo a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display, and distribute that content as needed to operate the Service. You represent that you have the rights to the content you post and that it does not infringe anyone’s rights.
10. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranty regarding the conduct, quality, safety, or legality of users or their work. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Renovilo and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, property damage, or personal injury, arising out of or related to the Service or your dealings with other users.
Our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the subscription fees you paid to Renovilo in the 3 months before the claim, or (b) CAD $100.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Renovilo and its operators from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your content, your dealings with other users, or your violation of these Terms or any law.
13. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access at our discretion, including for breach of these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including 2–5 and 9–14) will survive.
14. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. You agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Ontario, Canada, except where applicable law provides otherwise.
15. Changes and contact
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above; continued use after changes means you accept them. Questions? Reach us through the Help page.
