What is Renovilo?

Renovilo is an online marketplace for renovation work. Homeowners describe a project once and receive private quotes from contractors. Contractors find work to quote on, and post job listings to hire workers and crews.

It is a place where the two sides find each other. The work itself is arranged between a homeowner and the contractor they choose.

What problem does it solve?

Getting comparable renovation quotes is slow and unreliable. Homeowners repeat the same description to every contractor, and the quotes that come back often price different scopes, so the numbers cannot be compared fairly. Contractors, meanwhile, spend unpaid hours quoting jobs described too vaguely to price.

Renovilo addresses both sides of that. The project is described once, in the detail a contractor actually needs, and every quote answers the same brief. Each brief also states plainly that the homeowner's measurements are estimates for the contractor to verify on site, so nobody quotes against numbers that were never meant to be exact.

How is Renovilo different from a contractor?

Renovilo does not carry out renovation work and does not employ contractors. You hire a contractor directly. The scope, the price, the schedule and the workmanship are agreed between you and them — Renovilo is not a party to that agreement, does not supervise the work, and does not guarantee any quote or result.

Renovilo is also not a lead-reselling service. A homeowner's project is not sold on to third parties, and contractors reach homeowners through the marketplace rather than by buying contact details.

Where does Renovilo operate?

Renovilo serves Canada and the United States, and is starting in Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area. Projects and job listings carry a city and province or state, so people find work near them and contractors see only what is in range.

The interface is available in English, Turkish and Spanish. Project posts written in one language are translated once when published so contractors can read them in theirs; the original is always one click away.

How does it work?

1. 1. Describe the project. An assistant asks the questions a contractor would need answered — rooms, rough sizes, condition, location, who supplies materials — and turns your answers and photos into a clear brief. You review and edit it before anything is published.
2. 2. Contractors quote privately. Quotes are sealed. Only you see them, and contractors cannot see each other's prices, so nobody is bidding against a number on a screen.
3. 3. Compare what is included. Read each quote for scope, not just the total. Message the contractors you want to talk to.
4. 4. Hire directly. You choose the contractor and agree the work with them.

Who is it for?

Homeowners

You post a renovation and collect quotes. Posting a project, receiving quotes and messaging contractors is free. You are never obliged to accept a quote, and your contact details are not published on the project page.

Contractors

You browse renovation projects in the regions and trades you work in, and send priced quotes directly to homeowners. You can post job listings to hire workers, build a public profile with photos of past work, and post your own projects when you need to sub-contract part of a job. Browsing is free; sending quotes requires a subscription.

Workers and crews

You browse construction job listings from hiring contractors, apply, and message employers directly. Your profile carries your trades, experience and equipment so employers know who is applying.

What does it cost?

Homeowners pay nothing to post a project, receive quotes or message contractors. Contractors and workers pay a monthly subscription to apply for jobs or send quotes. Renovilo does not take a commission on the renovation itself — what you agree with your contractor is between the two of you.

Current plan prices are on the plans page. Subscriptions can be cancelled at any time and run to the end of the paid period.

What is public and what is not?

A published project shows the work, the rough size, the city and province, and any photos you add. It does not show your street address, phone number or email, and your surname is masked unless you choose otherwise.

• ·Quotes are private between you and the contractor who sent them.
• ·Messages are private to the two people in the conversation.
• ·An exact street address, if you give one, is visible only to you.
• ·Contractors can keep their public profile out of search engines from their profile settings.

The Privacy Policy sets out what is collected, how long it is kept and how to request a copy or deletion.

What Renovilo does not do

• ·It does not carry out or supervise renovation work.
• ·It does not set prices, guarantee quotes, or hold payment between homeowners and contractors.
• ·It does not license, certify or vet contractors' qualifications. Ask for licences and insurance, and verify them, before you hire.
• ·It does not give legal, permit or building-code advice. Requirements vary by municipality — confirm them with your city and your contractor.
